Volunteer at United Way of York Region
Volunteers are the backbone of United Way. Year after year their energy, dedication and commitment help us reach our goals.
From canvassing colleagues and employees for financial support, to participating in numerous committees and boards to ensure transparency and improve public awareness, volunteers are a dynamic and essential component of everything we do here at United Way.
We have many important and fulfilling volunteer opportunities that will support the community and help make a better future for our region including event and operational support and our Community Review Panel.
Event Support
United Way of York Region runs several fundraising events throughout the year. If you’d like to get involved and support our staff, please contact Nicole Cleve at ncleve@uwyr.on.ca or call 905-474-9974, ext. 250.
Operational Support
Throughout the year, United Way of York Region has several volunteer opportunities that enable us to run our United Way operations, and we definitely couldn’t do what we do without you. By donating your time and help, we can continue to strengthen neighbourhoods and improve the lives of many across our city.
There are currently no Operational Support Volunteer positions available.
Each fundraising year, Community Review Panels review funding applications to make funding level recommendations to United Way of York Region’s Board of Directors in support of our member agencies. Volunteers on these panels play an important role in ensuring donor dollars are spent according to current and emerging community service needs as efficiently and effectively as possible.
We are currently seeking volunteers to serve on United Way of York Region’s Community Review Panels from October 2011 to March 2012. Community Review Panels are comprised of diverse and talented professionals and community members who evaluate the community impact and organizational capacity of United Way member agencies, and advise the Community Investment Committee on the allocation of funds to member agencies.
Application Deadline: September 26, 2011
